Thank you so much for booking in with me! I am so excited for you to join me for my first ever Christmas mini sessions. These sessions are simple and real, authentic in the most heartwarming sense. In case you didn’t see the note I just want to confirm Santa will not be in attendance at this session, it is purely about you guys and make sure you have a beautiful family photo for 2024 in gorgeous spot.

All sessions will be 15 minutes and it is imperative that you are on time so that the day runs smoothly. I know little ones can be temperamental and I am sure you are worried they won’t “play ball” for you. The best way to avoid it is to be super positive about the session leading up and not put pressure on them to do anything in particular. It is also best to have a think about the things that make them give those beautiful heartwarming smiles you love most. If that is upside down tickels that is what we will be doing or if it is silly words whispered in their ear come ready with all the phrases ready. Also make sure they are fed and watered so we don’t have hangry toddlers on our hands.

The stunning location for these sessions is Kurrajong Ridge Homestead - 106 Dollins Road, Kurrajong. Kate has graciously allowed me to use her veranda for these session. I won’t have access to the house though so make sure you have used the bathroom prior to arriving. After the session I will have your images ready within 2 weeks and I will send you a link to your gallery. All images will be watermarked and low resolution while you pick your 8 images. If you decide you can’t pick and want the whole gallery it will be an additional $150. You won’t be able to buy individual images. Once you 8 have been picked I will remove the water marks and upload those images in high res for you to download.

If you have prepurchased your full gallery (and received your discount yay!) all of your images will be free of water marks and in high res ready for download.

I will email you an invoice the week before the session. You are welcome to pay by cash on the day or by direct deposit (my bank details will be on the invoice). If you need to cancel please let me know as soon as possible so I can rebook the spot. All cancellations need to be made 24 hours before your session time.

Now for the fun stuff - What to wear and how to prepare!

Think white, airy and bare feet and you can’t go wrong. At the end of the day though these are your images and will be on your walls so you should make sure they reflect you and your personal style. Focus on complimentary tones, beautiful texture and simplicity so that your connection with each other is the focus of your photographs in years to come and not what you were wearing.  Try to coordinate colours by picking 2 or 3 colours and working neutrals around them.  

Avoid large brand names on clothing as well as mixing patterns (eg stripes on one person and spots on another) as it is distracting from the overall image. Texture is always better than pattern and textures such as linen, knits, cotton, denim and corduroy always photograph well.  

All of these little considerations will help to set a mood for your photographs and at the end of the day the session should be all about you and your family and your personal style (or lack thereof!) is part of that.  The below outfits are all examples of texture and matching without being matchy-matchy.

A few tips for our session:

How to prepare: The best way to approach a session with me is not to worry about standing and smiling or posing etc.  I will pop you somewhere in great natural light and tell you to just interact with your loved ones, so maybe refrain from talking to your loved ones that day so you have heaps to chat about during our session!  Have up your sleeve a number of little sayings or games that make your kids laugh etc.  We are limited with time at a mini session so I don’t want the focus on being trying to make kids look and smile as we will waste precious minutes while you get more and more agitated with them. I will try to grab that mantle place smiling pic but the focus will be on you guys loving on each other.

What to bring (or what not to bring!): Don’t bring anything to be honest. 15 minutes is all we have so the less distractions the better.

Unpredictable little loves: If your little one is grumpy, don’t worry about it just let them be and hopefully we will work them out of it. If they fall asleep in the car maybe stop and wake them up about 15 minutes out and give them a snack so they have some time to wake up properly rather than being put on the spot straight from being woken up.

Relax and have fun with them.  Slow down, be present and love on them.  If you do these things there will be plenty of beautiful moments for me to capture.

Weather: With this location we will be fine rain or shine.
